Healthy Start to New Year Includes Florida Oranges, Grapefruit

If you’re like most people, eating healthier and losing a few pounds is probably near the top of your list of New Year’s resolutions. If previous years are any indication, we’ll start out strong with plenty of good intentions; but it won’t be long before life intervenes, throws us off track and derails our New Year’s resolutions. Before we know it, our resolve starts to fade and we slip back into our old bad habits. But this year can be different! You can keep yourself on track and achieve your New Year’s goals by adding sweet, juicy Florida oranges and Florida grapefruit to your daily diet.

Here’s how to use delicious Florida citrus fruit to combat some of the most common New Year’s resolution pitfalls:

  • Eat breakfast. Dieticians and fitness gurus say eating breakfast is one of best things you can do to aid weight loss and boost energy, but who has time to sit down and eat breakfast in the midst of the morning rush to get everyone out the door and off to work and school? For a fast, healthy breakfast, grab a breakfast bar and a vitamin-packed Florida orange on your way out the door. Florida navel oranges are easy to peel and eat. For a great start to the day, munch an orange while you check your morning emails.
